For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;      1 Timothy 4:4

How many people can look back on their past and say that I am not who they say I should be? Did they say that you would be a teen mother because your mother was one? Did they say that you should be an alcoholic because one of your parents was? Did they say that you would amount to nothing because your Mom or dad was nothing? Did they know that every creature of God is good?

Many times in life people do not realize how their words affect our future. They don't realize that just because your Mom was a teenage Mom, doesn't mean that you have to be the same way. They forget how powerful the tongue can truly be. They don't realize that they can speak things into existence. I don't think that they realize that it doesn't matter what your parents have done in this world, God allows each of us to make our decisions about our lives. I look at my own life because my mother was a teen Mom with me, but I refused to be the same. God's hand was on my life for me to go in a different direction than the one my mother chose. If you were a teen mother who has done a splendid job raising your children, then applaud yourself because you've refuse to be who they say that you would be.

It is said that alcoholism is hereditary. It is if you allow it to be!! There are many members of my family who are heavy drinkers, yet drinking doesn't interest me. I don't point the finger at my family, I fold them together and pray for them. I can move more mountains through prayers, than I can through nagging. When you know that there are strongholds in your family, you have to make conscious decisions to bring down those strongholds.

You've got to fight like there is no tomorrow. Know that you can break generational curses through your prayers and beliefs.

Just because my parents did not live the life of what others held up to a certain scale doesn't mean that I will take the road that they did. Know that God is giving you the opportunity to live your life. You do not have to be a product of your environment. Know that God can teach an old dog new tricks, your prayers might even change your parents even at their age. God is a God of impossibility. As I refuse to be who they say I should be, I will make a pledge to honor my mother and my father, even if I don't agree with them.

So today as you look at your life and know that you are not who they said that you should be, thank God. It was His mercy that intervened on your behalf. He knew that if He saved you to be different, then you could be an example to someone. Are you an example to someone? God does not make mistakes, everything done by Him is good and it is perfect. So know that God has not and will not refuse you and you therefore can refuse what the world thinks you should be.
